What to Expect


When you come to the clinic, our front office personnel will request the following:

  • Written PT/OT referral/prescription
  • Insurance card(s) with your ID and group number
  • Patient's social security number
  • Your birth date and that of the insurance subscriber's, (if not yourself)
  • Patient Registration Information
  • Co-pay (if applicable)
  • Any other appropriate billing information

On your following visits, it is important that you keep us informed of any changes you may have such as a change in insurance, a change of address, or physician, etc.

What should I wear? All examinations are private. Loose-fitting, comfortable clothing is recommended. You may want to wear or bring shorts if we are treating your back, your knees or your ankles. Gowns are provided upon request.

How long is each visit? The initial evaluation, will take approximately one hour. Each follow-up visit will take approximately 30 to 45 minutes depending on your treatment plan.

What should I expect during my initial visit? A thorough evaluation will be completed by a licensed physical or occupational therapist. This will include a patient history as well as selected musculoskeletal and neurological tests. After completion of the initial exam you therapist will discuss with you their findings. Based on your personal rehabilitation goals and the objective findings of the therapist a comprehensive treatment program will be established.

In addition to the evaluation, what else will be involved in my treatment? Therapists may use one or a combination of the following interventions to achieve treatment goals:

  • Therapeutic exercises (including aerobic conditioning)
  • Functional training in self care and home management
  • Manual therapy techniques (soft tissue and joint mobilization)
  • Physical agents, mechanical and/or thermal modalities
  • Electrotherapeutic modalities
  • Educational and/or application of assistive, adaptive, and protective devices and equipment

How many times a week and for how many weeks will I need to come? The frequency and duration of your treatment program will be in part determined by your physician and therapist’s recommendations but will also be based on your goals and availability.
